The Birch Thompson Memorial Fund held a special fund-raiser on 18 May 2024 when a wide age - range of supporters stepped up Snowdon.
The youngest person was 4 year-old Jacob , grandson of Trustee Andy Morris: the eldest was founder Trustee of the Charity Keith Berry who is in his 84th year. Jacob and Keith walked the first 1000 Steps up Snowdon!
There was, however, a group of trustees and others reached the Summit and already raised over £2,000 for this much-needed resource.
The Money raised will go towards the laying of an area at the back of Gelliwig with either natural grass or synthetic surface.
The Outdoor play area will commemorate the late Baroness Rachael Heyhoe - Flint who was one of the first Patrons in 1981 and an active supporter throughout her life. This included the provision of beds (some still in use), two minibuses (both still in use) and annual prizes for our Joe Loss Dance.
Rachael was a teacher with John Thompson at the Municipal Grammar School before she entered journalism.
We are delighted to hear that Rachael’s son, Ben Heyhoe Flint, gave his support for this project .
