A quilt inspired by a love of books has been created by Exmouth & District University of the Third Age (U3A) members and depicts shelves of books and a curious cat. It took 12 quilters 80 hours of work to design, cut and stitch.
This is a very special quilt as it was started on the third week of the first lockdown. Nothing stopped the group to organise themselves and work creatively together via Zoom. Clare Dawson coordinated the work and gave each of the 12 members a square of fabric. The members used different techniques such as appliqué, paper piecing, embroidery as well as their personal creative touch. When restrictions eased, they met in each other's gardens or dropped completed squares to Clare who put the squares together.
The 170cm by 120cm quilt will be on display at libraries in East Devon, Mid Devon and Exeter.
Entries close on 30th June 2022 at 5pm. The prize winner will be drawn on 14th July 2022. Raffle tickets will be available in the libraries and online. Terms & Conditions are available on our website
