Nestled at the southern end of Peckham Rye, Athenlay Football Club has been a cornerstone of the Southeast London community for over four decades. Founded in 1979, our club has grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant, volunteer-led registered charity that uses the power of grassroots football to transform lives. We are more than just a football club, we are a community. Every week, hundreds of boys, girls and adults come together at our Homestall Road ground to play, grow and belong to a team. Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment where everyone can thrive through football. One of our proudest achievements is our role in championing girls' and womens’ football extending to a wider area within South London. In 2018, we launched our girls' football programme with a single team. Today, we proudly field nine girls teams, a thriving Wildcats programme for younger girls and three adult womens teams - many of whom began their journey with us as young players. In 2022, we redesigned the Athenlay crest to reflect this evolution - a bold symbol of female football is now woven into the very DNA of our identity. Our impact goes far beyond the pitch. We are deeply embedded in the local community, working tirelessly to promote wellbeing, inclusion and opportunity. Whether it's developing players through coaching, volunteering both on and off the pitch or providing a space to belong. Athenlay continues to be a force for good in Southeast London and beyond. As we look to the future, our vision remains clear: our commitment to keep building, keep empowering and keep making a difference - one player, one team, one story at a time.
