Creating Meaningful Memories: A Fundraiser to Enrich Lives Through Music

Help us bring joy and connection to older people and those affected by dementia by supporting our local older people's choirs! As we age, music becomes an even more powerful source of comfort, joy, and connection. There are also improvements in memory. Music has a profound impact on emotional and cognitive well-being, and our choirs provide a nurturing environment where individuals can express themselves, build friendships, and experience the transformative power of song.  

Our recent Meaningful Memories projects, which culminated in the release of our single "Stars," taps into the memories surrounding Christmas, offering older adults a chance to use their creativity, voices, and experiences to co-create a unique piece of music. However, Meaningful Memories is about much more than just creating a song. It’s a celebration of the voices and contributions of older adults, highlighting their important role in the community and showcasing the powerful benefits of group singing.

For many, singing serves as a bridge to cherished memories and a means of self-expression that transcends the challenges of cognitive decline or dementia. Our choirs create a vibrant atmosphere and for people living with dementia, a frequent finding is the improvement in verbal fluency, communication and cognitive reserve following a choir session.

We believe that everyone deserves to be heard and celebrated. Through the uplifting power of music, our choirs aim to combat isolation as well as providing a safe space where individuals can find friendship and support. Hitting our target of 15K will enable us to run 5 choirs for a whole year in care homes, dementia centres and community hubs for older people andYour contribution will help us make a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most.
