The Christmas Dinners is an annual event, established by writer and care leaver, Lemn Sissay OBE whose mission is to ensure no care leaver is alone on Christmas Day. Lemn called for the community to come together to show care leavers that they matter and deserve to have an amazing Christmas Day to remember.
South London Xmas Dinner (SLXD) are run entirely by volunteers who have come together to give young care leavers a very special Christmas Day. These young people have gone through so much, some are very vulnerable due to their upbringing and this year may be their first Christmas living independently and alone.
We need your support to make this Christmas Day happen.
Your donation will show our young guests they are worth investing in and there are people like you who care.
Your kind support will go towards paying for each young person to receive a special Christmas Day dinner, some wonderful presents and an essential hamper each to support them in the days after our Christmas Day event.
We really hope you will donate, every little bit makes such a difference in helping to make Christmas Day happen and gives the young care leavers the opportunity to celebrate festivities together and feel supported and loved by the community.
Here's an idea of what your donation can help us with:
£10 = pays for a Christmas dinner for a young person.
£20 = pays for an essential food hamper.
£30 = pays for household essentials (e.g. bedding, towels).
£50 = pays for winter essentials (e.g. coat, duvet, thermals).
£70 = pays for a WOW present for a young guest.
This year, we are also supporting Ealing Christmas Dinner with their first Christmas Day event. If you would like your donation to support Ealing directly - please note that in the comments box.
Thank you very much
Please see our 'Updates' section to see how you can allocate your donation to go towards a Madlug backpack for our young guests.
