After completing North Cape 4000 in 2022 and reaching the northernmost point of Europe (Nordkapp) after 4000km I have decided to get back on the bike and head south on an event called 45 SouthWest.
45-SouthWest is a single-stage 4384km, self-supported road bicycle event starting in the historical city of Krakow, Poland.
The route will lead me over 160000ft of elevation through national parks, iconic ancient villages, and towns, scenic UNESCO World Heritage sites, the deepest canyon in Europe, the “orange towers,” challenging mountain regions including Europe’s highest cycling climb, the Pyrenees, and the Alps with the famous Tour de France cols. The event will complete at the southernmost part of the European mainland in Tarifa, Spain.
This will be the longest and hardest challenge I have ever attempted as I dont really like hills (or mountains) and I'm definitely not at peak fitness but I'll have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable pretty quick. If the weather last year in Bosnia was anything to go by it will also be hot which poses another challenge. Then there's the animals which I intend to stay away from.
There will be live tracking on Followmychallenge which I will post when it goes live.
