SICM Care4Calais - Fundraising For Refugees in Calais

Story

As members of SICM (Mahfil Ali) we want to raise funds for Care4Calais to demonstrate solidarity and welcome all refugees

SICM is organising a delegation to Calais to help with Care4Calais operations, bringing vital donations and enthusiastic volunteers to Calais, France. We have a group of 17 SICM volunteers! These volunteers will distribute vital resources, such as clothes, shoes, sleeping bags and toiletries, to refugees and migrants who are suffering some of the most appalling conditions and treatment.

There are currently around 700 refugees living in and around Calais. They are sleeping rough in the worst conditions and are not allowed to even have tents for shelter from the elements. Their sleeping bags and possessions are regularly confiscated by the police.

In order to demonstrate our solidarity with refugees, in the face of even greater uncertainly amidst forced deportation to Rwanda, we need to redouble our efforts to support Care4Calais and the fantastic work this charity does to support refugees and migrants in Northern France.

What do we need you to do?

We realise that these are turbulent times especially with such a strain on the cost of living. Please donate whatever amount you can and spread the word amongst friends and family.

Having already experienced great trauma, refugees need to be kept warm, dry and properly fed, and to provide information and solidarity to them in this time of need.

Our overall aim in setting up this page is to fundraise for distributions made to refugees on a daily basis in Calais. All the money donated will go straight to doing this!

Care4Calais

Care4Calais is a volunteer-run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, and Northern France. We believe in a fair and tolerant British society and advocate for a welcoming and inclusive attitude towards refugees. Operating year round from Calais, our focus is to provide warm clothing, bedding, food and medical assistance to people in desperate need. We also provide social support and interaction, including language lessons and sports and music workshops. We are on the ground with the refugees every single day and are respectful of their common humanity and responsive to their needs.
