Sachin's London to Brighton Cycle for Care4Calais

Hey everyone!

My name is Sachin, I'm 19 years old and on September 15th I will be riding the London to Brighton cycle in aid of Care4Calais. As a volunteer of Care4Calais both in London and three stints to date in Calais, I have seen the first hand positive impacts of Care4Calais' work. Currently, refugees do not have access to safe routes, and as such, they have to risk their lives to get to the UK to reach safety and start a new life free from persecution and danger. Care4Calais provide crucial support for refugees who survive in Calais, and further support them in the UK through distribution of clothes/toiletries, legal aid and social support. As a volunteer on both sides of the border, I can safely say that the positive impacts made on a daily basis make a huge deal of difference to refugees, and therefore I have decided to support Care4Calais as my chosen charity for my cycle. I would be greatly appreciative of anything you are able to donate to this cause, my goal is £1000 and so even small donations will help! Your money will go a great way to help and support refugees on both sides of our border. Thank you for reading, and once again, I appreciate any donations you are able to give.

What different donations can get a refugee:

£10 could pay for a winter snug pack to keep a refugee warm

£15 could pay for a complete outfit for a refugee

£20 could pay for some warm, dry winter boots

£25 could pay for a refugee's jacket to keep them warm

£50 could pay for a new phone to keep a refugee in contact with their family and to access essential services

£85 could pay for an integration package, to give a refugee the skills needed to be comfortable and happy in the UK

£95 could pay for a refugee's essential services, provided by a case worker

£105 could pay for a caseworker to support a refugee through the complex asylum system

Care4Calais

Care4Calais is a volunteer-run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, and Northern France. We believe in a fair and tolerant British society and advocate for a welcoming and inclusive attitude towards refugees. Operating year round from Calais, our focus is to provide warm clothing, bedding, food and medical assistance to people in desperate need. We also provide social support and interaction, including language lessons and sports and music workshops. We are on the ground with the refugees every single day and are respectful of their common humanity and responsive to their needs.
