Story

Please dig deep and help support our very much needed playground project

Our current playground at our Tonbridge Site is 80% hard standing, with limited green space and poor-quality surfaces. There is a lack of accessible equipment and safe areas for play, as highlighted in our recent condition report. SEN pupils require tailored, sensory-friendly environments to support their physical, emotional, and social development.

Without this investment, many pupils are unable to participate fully in outdoor activities, impacting their wellbeing and progress.

 OUR WORK

Oakley School provides specialist education and support for children with a wide range of needs. We deliver a creative curriculum, therapy, and enrichment activities, but our outdoor provision is limited by the current playground’s condition. The new playground will feature accessible equipment, sensory zones, and safe surfacing, designed in consultation with staff, pupils, therapists, and families.  A safe outdoor area improves physical and mental health, social interaction, and behaviour. Creates a safe, inclusive space for play, learning, and community events.

We really hope you can support us in this project, Thank you!

Updates

Thank you to everyone for helping us get over the halfway mark!  We are looking forward to receiving more funding in the near future with the summer fair coming up and fantastic efforts from family, friends, pupils and staff with their ongoing activities to support this project

Supporting

Friends of Oakley School

The Friends of Oakley is a registered charity and PTA for Oakley School. Oakley school is the district special school for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. All of the pupils have severe and/or complex needs with communication and learning difficulties as a result face additional challenges every day of their lives. The monies the charity raises is vital in enabling us to purchase additional enriching resources, specifically designed to meet the children's needs. As a PTA we help support events like parents evenings and sports days at the school, and also run two main fundraising events during the school year - the Christmas and Summer Fairs. By supporting Friends of Oakley you would not only be helping contribute funds to the school for the use of all of our children, but also allowing parents/carers and families to meet in a relaxed and familiar environment for their children.
