On the 5th of October 2024 at 9pm a group of walkers, around 40+ will set off on a gruelling 55k walk from London Victoria to Chatham in Medway, Kent. The overnight walk is a test of stamina and mental strength! This is our 8th year running the sponsored walk and is our biggest fundraiser of the year!
I have signed up for this years One Big Family 50k Ultra Walk is a test of stamina a mental strength! It is 14 hours walking 55km which is over 30 miles!! So please donate what you can, your donations helps pay for:
OneBig Family - Helping the \Homeless is a small, non-profit, charity based in Chatham, helping the homeless and anyone in financial crisis with essentials, signposting and kindness. We offer support to those who are homeless and vulnerably housed.
The money raised in spent on providing:
1. Homeless Emergency Winter Refuge - Last year we accommodated rough sleepers locally in the extreme cold weather – we had 104 Users. This service costs OneBig Family £25,000 and we are awaiting the funding to be able to open this year for even longer.
2. Supported accommodation project in Medway (Duke's House) - 9 Bedrooms, these are people who have been homeless and during their stay with us we assist them with their benefit, medical needs, any substance misuse – we offer outside help such as Forward Trust, we take them to appointments and give them the support they need. We have in-house Trauma-Informed therapist who work with our residents. Most people who have
