Josh's Birthday Walk

Story

Josh is a member of People in Action - he attends various groups, but we got to know him best during lockdown. Josh attended almost all of our Connections in Action Zoom sessions and we chatted to him every day.
Josh's mum Nicky says:
"People In Action got Josh through lockdown, it was incredible what was set-up online in such a short space of time. I don't know what he would have done without the online groups and support"
Josh is turning 30 this month, and to celebrate he wants to do a sponsored walk to raise funds to support People in Action. He is going to walk along the canal from his home in Wakefield into Leeds city centre - a distance of about 9 miles!
Josh's mum Nicky says that Josh is not someone who normally like to be out and about, so this walk will be a real challenge for him.
Josh will be walking with his brother Joel, his sister Jasmine and mum Nicky.
We're so proud of Josh for doing this, so please, if you can, sponsor him, and all teh money raised will go towards supporting people like Josh to be better engaged, connected and to live more independent and healthy lives.

People in Action is a Leeds based charity, established in 1983 to benefit learning disabled and autistic people.

We make a real difference to the lives of the most vulnerable and socially isolated; inspiring and empowering people to recognise their potential, fulfil their aspirations and lead safer healthier, better connected lives.

People in Action provides a range of innovative, inclusive, person-centred services which reflect the needs of the people we support. The activities are wide ranging and include the provision of opportunities for leisure, learning, health & wellbeing and the development of life skills. The range of activities runs from practical courses to social groups that meet in the community to enjoy leisure time together.

At People in Action we are striving to create barrier-free communities, where learning disabled and autistic people are equal members of the community and are accepted, respected and valued.
