Fundraiser - Hockey for Books

Story

In order to get ready for Annual dinner (26th April) we thought it would be nice to get us all together to play some mixed hockey in the afternoon amongst ourselves as a club. There will be small games. Its Pitch 2 1-2.30pm for the hockey part

Afterwards there will be baked goods available to buy as well as a raffle with some exiting prizes to be announced. If you can't come please consider buying some raffle tickets which you can do via this link and then let me know.

The money for match fees (£10), all the money from the food and raffle tickets (£2 a strip) will go towards Project Arusha which is a charity I run based in Tanzania. We have three associated schools- one primary and two secondary who need their libraries filling with books. A primary school book costs around £3 and a secondary school book costs about £5. The school students themselves asked me to see if I could raise money for this so we doing our best to help them and those who follow them achieve a better future for themselves.

Project Arusha

Project Arusha is a Derby based Charity. We have a long term friendship with Arusha in Tanzanian. We have contact with three schools out there: two secondary and one primary school. Every year a group of young people from three derby Parishes or St Benedict school after their A levels go out to Arusha to teach for ten weeks in the schools. Then in the summer one of the Tanzanian priest comes and helps in our parishes. The Project also makes donations to school building projects, community projects and has helped in times of food shortages.
