Hazel (aged 12) will be cycling 160km from Dumfries to Glasgow to raise money for Mossburn Community Farm. She would like to raise at least £1 for every kilometre she rides.
The route is mainly off-road and Hazel will ride over 160km and climb nearly 3000m. Hazel's dad is also riding the route with Hazel, with a large bag of food and snacks. Inspired by Josh and the others who have planned the route and and who are doing a seperate fundraiser, we will do the ride over two days. We are aiming to do the ride on the 11th and 12th of July, but we will be careful with the weather as the route is exposed in some places.
Mossburn Community Farm provides sanctuary for animals in need, whether they have been neglected, abandoned or their owners can no longer care for them. Their team of staff and dedicated volunteers ensure that the well-being of their animals is of the highest importance at all times. Mossburn also provides animal assisted therapy which gives a wide range of people many benefits, including helping with anxiety, giving comfort, reducing loneliness and increasing mental stimulation. Learn more about their work and meet some of the animals here.
Mossburn is free to visit and as a community resource this is incredible. Time spent with animals is incredible for mental health. However, looking after the residents is not cheap with regular vets bills and the costs of feeding being especially high at the moment - an average month sees around £1000 being spend on feed bills alone. Please do support this special place and better yet, go and visit and experience it for yourself.
A visit to Mossburn is a wonderful experience - please support them to continue the incredible work they do in the community.
