When 31-year-old peace activist Awdeh Hathaleen was killed by an Israeli settler in July 2025, his West Bank community was devastated. Beloved in the village of Umm al-Khair for his non-violent resistance to displacement, Awdeh helped create an Oscar-winning documentary exposing settler violence driving Israel’s annexation of the West Bank. After his death, his cousin Alaa Hathaleen vowed to continue his legacy. This Giving Tuesday, we aim to raise £10,000 to fund Alaa’s seven-day UK advocacy tour, amplifying grassroots Palestinian voices and stories of life under military occupation.
A Crucial Tour at a Pivotal Moment
This tour is a vital chance to bring a Palestinian grassroots perspective directly to UK decision-makers and communities amid rising public and parliamentary concern. Planned for late January, by meeting MPs, policymakers, students, and wider audiences, Alaa will ensure that daily realities - from military occupation to settler violence - are understood through lived experience. His testimony from Masafer Yatta and Umm al-Khair will humanise issues often discussed in the abstract, inspiring empathy and action.
