Estrellas Brillantes is running its annual Christmas fundraisers in December to raise money to support children and families in the city of Guayaramerin, in Bolivia
Here in Scotland, there are so many fun activities for children in the run-up to Christmas (putting up the tree, seeing Christmas lights, visiting Santa, Christmas parties, going to the panto and nativity plays, Christmas carols) and children receive so many presents and have the chance to make special memories with their families.
In Bolivia, the experience of Christmas for children is often so different. This is the third year that Estrellas Brillantes has supported two of Rachel's friends in Bolivia to run a Christmas programme in December for local disadvantaged children, who would otherwise have no access to any Christmas activities. This programme will include songs, games, crafts and a snack. Each child will also receive a little gift bag of sweets. We also want to support the girls to buy food hampers for families in need in the local community, and to buy shoes for children, who often attend the children's clubs barefoot.
The activities are being run by volunteers and our goal is to raise £1200, which would cover the cost of providing the Christmas activities for 120 children (craft materials, snacks, transport, and a sweets for each child on the last day), and it would also provide food packs for 20 families in need, and shoes for 20 children.
