Story

In 2022 I plan to walk over 80 miles of the Dartmoor National Park in 4 days. Please support me in my fund-raising efforts for Make Every Move Count. Your fund raising will help me raise money towards residential facilities for the Shishukunj International School in Bhuj, India. The school provides education to 215 students from Kindergarten to class 10 (Aged 3 to 16 years) and is growing.

Some of the students are from the economically weaker sections of society. However, it has been a challenge to educate these children in an English medium school as there is no exposure to the language in their home environment to support language acquisition, and thus becomes a hindrance to learning in other subject areas as well. Shishukunj therefore propose starting a residential set up which would help in providing after school support for these children.

A residential set up would also enable people from further afield, who would like to access a holistic education for their children. The residential setup would be open for children from age 8 and up. Children will live in mixed age group hostels, and older children teaching younger ones will be an integral approach in this setup. Children will also be given responsibilities to look after their physical spaces and participate in other activities like farming, yoga, swimming after school time
