Story

This is my 3rd time joining the OneBig Family Ultra Walk - and on the 5th of October 2024 at 9pm I will again join a group of 30+ walkers who will set off on a 55k walk from London to Chatham. The first walk was 8 years ago with just 7 people, the walk has evolved and this year we have upped the mileage just a little to ensure this is a challenge for us! - I will earn your sponsor money literally through sweat, and blisters!  The overnight walk is a test of stamina and mental strength.

I could have been one of those homeless people once - but due to the love of my parents I have had a roof over my head for 15 years - I am one of the lucky ones and I am full of gratitude - this is why I Walk for charity.  I am also, for OneBig Family in April 2025 the Brighton Marathon which is a testing 26.2 Miles or 40K.. The training has begun - so I need your prayers and sponsorship for this amazing charity.

OneBig Family is a small, non-profit, voluntary-run charity based in Chatham, helping the homeless and anyone in financial crisis with essentials, signposting and kindness.

One Big Family - Helping the Homeless

One Big Family are a small but dedicated charity supporting homeless and vulnerably-housed people in Kent and Yorkshire. We provide food, drink, clothing, toiletries and other vital items to those in need via regular outreach work and soup kitchens, We provide food parcels for the local community, home starter kits and essential packs for newly housed people who may need them. We also accompany people to essential appointments and support them in any way we can. One Big Family also run Dukes House in Medway which is a temporary housing project for people who have previously been rough sleeping. The support we offer in their time with us includes enabling them to live independently, managing their own bank accounts, benefits and bills. This is essential for when they move on to permanent accommodation.
