Story

Twenty intrepid explorers take on the peaks!

Please support our struggles to raise money for these wonderful charities:

Healing Little Hearts

Every year more than 1 million children are born with Congenital Heart Disease worldwide. Sadly, only 10% of these children receive the life saving treatment they desperately need. The vast majority of those who do not receive the treatment live in the countries we visit.

Our primary aim is to ensure all children are given the opportunity to live the life they deserve. With your help we can make a difference. healinglittlehearts.org

Stroke Association

There are now 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK. This number is growing and, as a charity, our services have never been more stretched. To reach everyone who needs us, we urgently need your support.

We help stroke survivors and their families to rebuild their lives in ways that no one else can. Our specialist support helps them find the hope they need to move forward with their recovery. https://www.stroke.org.uk/

Keeping Abreast

Established in September 2007 by patients and a nurse specialist - they recognised a great need for women, both newly diagnosed with breast cancer and facing the possibility of mastectomy, to be able to meet and talk to other women who have been through similar experiences. This allows women make an informed choice about whether or not to proceed with breast reconstruction. https://keepingabreast.org.uk/

Healing Little Hearts

Despite being a relatively small charity, Healing Little Hearts comes with huge goals. Our primary aim is to ensure that every child within our reach can access the heart surgery they desperately need.

We are a UK based Registered Children’s Charity (Charity no. 1130194). Our medical volunteers are all registered and qualified professionals. Teams consist of Cardiac Surgeons, Interventional Cardiologists, Anaesthetists, Intensivists, Perfusionists, Nurses and Cardiac Physiologists. Many of our volunteers come from the UK, other parts of Europe, USA, Australia and India. They take annual leave from their daily jobs, some of whom go on 3-4 camps every year. Our volunteers all work towards saving the lives of some of the poorest children in the world whilst sharing their knowledge, skills and experience with the local teams, by taking time off their work.

We have a dedicated committee and young volunteers who facilitate activities such as fundraising as well as raising our profile at various events. Our charity is governed by 3 Trustees. There are less than 5% administration costs and everyone involved is a non-paid volunteer. We receive no government funding.

Stroke Association

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke.

We provide specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives.

Rebuilding lives after a stroke is a team effort. It takes the determination of stroke survivors and carers, the generosity of supporters and the dedication of the healthcare and research communities to get there.

To help in the recovery of stroke survivors we provide information, support and advice.

Keeping Abreast

Keeping Abreast was established in September 2007 by patients Anna Beckingham and Beverley Birritteri and Breast Reconstruction nurse specialist Ruth Harcourt. They recognised a great need for women, both newly diagnosed with breast cancer and facing the possibility of mastectomy, and also women further down the line who are also considering reconstructive surgery, to be able to meet and talk to other women who have been through similar experiences. This allows women make an informed choice about whether or not to proceed with breast reconstruction
