Our volunteers continue to provide much needed support and solidarity to the people living in Wethersfield barracks. The camp, which is surrounded by barbed wire fences, security cameras and personnel, is extremely remote resulting in feelings of loneliness, isolation and severe mental distress among the residents. Many of the people that are moved to the camp are new to the UK and may only have the one set of clothes that they arrived in. We are seeing many people that do not have suitable clothing for the cold weather such as a coat or proper shoes and we are desperately raising funds to purchase these items. Our volunteers hold weekly drop-in sessions for the people we support in a nearby town. They provide a warm, welcoming, safe space for people to come to and where they can have a chat over a hot drink and some food, collect some much needed clothing or toiletries from our distributions, practice English, play games or get a haircut. Our volunteers also provide all new arrivals with a welcome pack containing a change of clothes. We rely completely on your donations to be able to continue this work. Any donations will be grateful received. Thank you
