Blairgowrie Fire Station takes on Ben Nevis!

Story

On the 18th May 2024, 16 Firefighters from Blairgowrie Fire Station are climbing Ben Nevis in aid of the Family Support Trust & the Royal British Legion. 4 of our firefighters served in the Armed Forces before joining us to serve their local community. FF Steve Owen, FF Sean Cameron, FF Callum Gibson and FF Ross Miller will be taking on Ben Nevis in full fire kit and a Bergen weighing the same as a Breathing Apparatus set! 

The 4 ex military Firefighters will be joined by their colleagues Watch Commander Paul Smith, Crew Commander's Eddie Clark, Ross McNee, Frankie Shepherd and  Firefighter's Craig Wilkinson, Richard Mackinnon, Piotr Gudan, Robyn Smith,  Mitch Craig,  Harry Mcintosh, Fred Betts, Thomas Wishart, Jamie Wedlock, James Bruscaglia and  Mark Sayer and SFRS Family Support Trust Trustee AC Scott Gibson.

SFRS Family Support Trust

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family Support Trust (established 1923), is the oldest Fire & Rescue charity in the UK. We enjoy a unique position as the only Fire Service charity, run within a specific Fire and Rescue Service, for the benefit of Service personnel and retired members and their families. We help serving & retired Fire Service personnel & their families, in times of need. Our charitable services include: welfare grants, information, support and usage of our respite facilities, for rest and recuperation, following illness, injury or bereavement. We receive no regular grant funding and we rely heavily on financial donations and the fundraising efforts of members of the Fire Service and the general public. We continually strive to ensure the best use of our charitable resources. We organise social and fundraising events and activities throughout the year, to help raise awareness of the good work of our Charity and to engage with our beneficiaries and supporters. Our Charity is managed by a small, professional, Staff team and a Board of Volunteer Trustees. We report annually to OSCR, (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator).
