I never thought I'd be able to run a marathon, let alone a second one. Yet here I am, pounding the pavement again to raise awareness and as much money as I can for a worthy cause. My best friend's baby Alby, was born unable to swallow with Oesophageal Atresia and Tracheo Oesophageal Fistula (OA/TOF) and had to receive life saving emergency surgery the day after he was born.
This little fighter showed us true resilience and shone a light on the condition which affects 1 in 3500 children every year in the UK. The family were so grateful to the Charity "TOFS", which gave them a huge amount of support in learning about their baby’s condition and how to live with this. It also opened them up to an invaluable support network that has helped them through difficult times.
Waiting for me at the finishing of the London marathon will be my support network including my husband, friends and wee Alby himself!
I'm no Usain Bolt, and my "marathon training" included lots of Netflix and pizza, but the love and support of my friends and family keep me going.
Let's make this marathon about supporting families who are going through the same ordeal and try to make a better future for these little warriors!
