On 1st September 2024, along with a team of around 100 other runners, I will be running The Big Half half marathon to raise essential funds for Gorsefield!
Gorsefield Rural Studies and Outdoor Activity Centre, located in Essex, is an Edwardian Country House on 7.5 acres, run by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. This non-profit centre is crucial for children from Tower Hamlets, a diverse but deprived London area facing challenges like high crime rates and unemployment. Gorsefield offers these children outdoor experiences, aiming to improve their emotional, physical, and social well-being.
The centre plans to become a net-zero facility, offering activities and freshly cooked meals from locally grown produce, promoting sustainability and self-sufficiency. Future plans include introducing farm animals to teach children about care, responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
Gorsefield's mission is to empower and educate, breaking the cycle of poverty and inspiring a better future for children and their communities. It seeks support through donations, volunteering, and advocacy, aiming to offer children a glimpse of a broader world and the confidence to explore it.
Join us in creating a sustainable and brighter future at Gorsefield. Your donation will make a big difference to thousands of children.
