For more than 20 years MARTA Centre (www.marta.lv/en) in Latvia offers qualified rehabilitation to adult and child victims who had suffered from abuse and human trafficking. Every year the organization achieves structural changes through amendments of legal acts or policies in Latvia. MARTA develops and delivers powerful youth programs and is a member of informal network of women organizations from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Central Asia, Baltic countries.
Since the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine on 24th February in 2022, MARTA aims to continue its cooperation with the Female leaders of municipalities and NGOs in Eastern Ukraine, South of Ukraine and Women’s Information and Advisory Centre in Kyiv
- to support this female network by providing training to Ukrainian specialists working with documenting cases of wartime sexual violence and rehabilitation of the victims of wartime rape and
- to host and rehabilitate individual refugees victims of sexual violence referred to specialists in Latvia.
With the project psycho emotional and practical support for thousands of victims of the war in Ukraine will be ensured, especially to women and children in extremely vulnerable situations.
A team of professionals working at EBRD had submitted and received approval for donations towards this project to be tripled (x 3) by EBRD Community Initiative (T&Cs apply).
