Bridgepoint London to Amsterdam by bike in 24 hours

Story

Building on the success of Bridgepoint's London to Paris in 24 hours trip in 2022 (see below), we have organised a similar ride from Bridgepoint's London headquarters to its Amsterdam office. This is a total distance of approx. 230km, and we will again look to complete this within 24 hours. For many of the participants, this will be the furthest they have ever cycled, and the challenge of reaching Amsterdam in 24 hours is considerable.

On 29th August 2024, 17 colleagues from Bridgepoint’s London team (with a broad mix of business areas and levels of seniority) will take part in this challenge, with a member of the Dutch team joining us for the second leg of the journey in the Netherlands. We will leave at lunchtime on Thursday 29th and ride c.140km from London to Harwich, where we will board an overnight ferry to the Hook of Holland. The second leg on the Dutch side from the port to Amsterdam is c.90km, with the team aiming to arrive in Amsterdam at lunchtime.

We would dearly appreciate any donation you are able to make, which will support two charities chosen by the participants. The Bridgepoint Charitable Trust has generously volunteered to match any donations made, so your contribution will effectively count for double. The charities we are supporting are:

Founded in a Soho church basement in 1969, Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity. It supports more than 2,000 young people every day and runs 60 accommodation services across five London boroughs, as well as in Sunderland, Manchester, Bradford and Barnsley. Centrepoint helps to put young people on the path to lasting employment through employability programmes and training. as well as other initiatives to assist with independent living and a positive future.

With more than 129,000 young people experiencing homelessness last year, Centrepoint’s support is needed now more than ever.
