5K for 5 Years

NF2 community charity fundraising event *** £250 FUND MATCHING SECURED FROM CLADCEIL LTD ***

In May 2025, NF2 BioSolutions UK & Europe celebrates our incredible milestone birthday of 5 years.

It all started with Clare, CEO and conversations with Nicole (President) & Gilles (VP) at NF2 BioSolutions to see if we could leverage donations in the UK with added gift aid to support the gene therapy research and then we were approached by Prof Omar Pathmanaban, NF2 lead researcher at the University of Manchester who wanted to partner with us to accelerate NF2 research within the UK.

What an incredible journey it has been so far, with several NF2 research projects all under way with the ultimate aim of finding better treatments for those living with NF2.

We have collaborated with many other NF organisations all over the world and other rare disease networks, brain tumour networks, hearing loss networks. We have a worldwide presence & following on social media which has grown from nothing. Received funding from trusts & foundations and the Medical Research Council who desperately want to help us to find better treatments. Attended conferences and showcased our research & received a nomination for a research award. Leveraged the curriculums in universities to ensure our next generation of students and doctors are aware of rare diseases and NF2. Ensured we are up to speed with the latest developments in the brain tumours, rare disease and hearing loss arenas. Plus fundraised with the help of our supporters to allow us to commit to research funding 4 PhD students. That is an enormous achievement in such a short time,

Our unique points are that everyone in our organisation has LIVED EXPERIENCE of NF2, we have that unique vantage point – we speak to those within our community to gauge exactly where we need to go and exactly what we need to do.
