Story

The Church of the Ascension, Woolston celebrates it’s 50th Birthday in May 2020.  Unfortunately, for a middle-aged lady she hasn’t aged well! As with many buildings constructed 50 years ago, The Ascension is suffering from corrosion to the concrete structure.  We would love The Ascension to serve Woolston in exciting new ways, for many generations.  Without substantial work that will not be possible.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have received a grant of up to £202,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.  However, we still need to raise £9,000 from donations and events in the local community. Due to Covid-19 our planned events are on hold, which means we will not receive any income from events; this puts the project in a precarious position.  Please be as generous as you can.  Thank you!  Registered charity 1185707

Supporting

The Church of the Ascension, Woolston from The Church of the Ascension, Woolston

The Church of the Ascension exists to be a resource to the community of Woolston. The Ascension and The Mission Hall provide important and well used community facilities. We are a group of people who want to make a difference in our community through our faith. The Ascension was opened in 1970 at a time when Woolston was rapidly growing, and as such forms an important part of Woolston's heritage and evolving story.  Registered charity no. 1185707.
