Christ Church School and the Friends are excited to be running our first ever whole school Read-a-thon starting on Monday, February 27th.
Over the course of a fortnight, Christ Church pupils will be involved in a wide range of wonderful reading activities both at home and in School. Each child will have the opportunity find sponsors to donate towards their participation in the Read-a-thon.
How will it work?
At home, in addition to reading more, children will be challenged to complete new reading activities like visiting a local library, researching the life of an author, making up their own stories, building a reading den and more! Children will be asked to share their reading explorations with teachers by March 13th. A prize, kindly donated by Daunt Books, will be presented to one child per year who impresses teachers with their energy, enthusiasm and incredible adventures in all things BOOKS, at home and at School, over the duration of the Read-a–thon. (Please note, specific details of extra curricular reading activities and how to record them will be sent to parents separately.)
Thanks to the kind sponsorship of Chestertons Estate Agents in Hampstead, the Friends have also secured authors and illustrators to come into Christ Church School over this period to talk to children about their love of books!
This is a fun way to foster a LOVE of reading while raising really crucial funds for School. Monies raised will be used to purchase much needed new books and provide essential reading equipment. What could be more important than BOOKS!?!
