About

Who are we?

We are leaders at Ignite: A youth group held at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Bangor.

We have had the privilege of spending our Thursday nights working alongside a fantastic group of young people. Each week we play games and frequently chat over tea and toast throughout the evening while also spending time sharing who God is and how each individual is loved and cared for!


What are we going to do?

Partnering with Young Life International's "Walk with us” programme, we will walk to camp! But how far, you may ask? This year, we are going to Cairn Brae for our camp. From St Andrews church, it is 191 miles. There and back: 382 miles! From the 16th-26th June we are going to walk it together. Each day we'll update with how many miles we have covered and include a little snippet from someone out on their adventures.

What will we use the money for?

As leaders, we wanted to be able to raise funds for Ignite. This is the first year of this youth group, and it's been incredible, but we're only getting started! We want to build upon what has been achieved this year. By raising these funds, we can ensure each young person can attend any events or camps we may run where money could be a barrier through subsiding costs or, in the circumstances, removing the costs. As we plan for next year we will have the opportunity to look at running day trips or even opportunities for the young people to learn new life skills.

Young Life International, an expression of Young Life, an international corporation founded in the USA in 1941 and present in over 100 countries around the world, is a distinctive outreach to young people who are not involved in the church and who know little of Jesus Christ. For 11 to 14 year olds we are appropriately called WyldLife. For 15 to 18 year olds we are called Young Life and for teenage mums we are called YoungLives.. We believe every young person deserves the right to hear about Jesus in language they understand from an adult who knows and loves them. Over one million teenagers a year world-wide are involved in either WyldLife, Young Life or YoungLives.
