Evelyn (Kathy Bates) is unhappy with her life. Visiting a nursing home she meets Ninny (Jessica Tandy) an outgoing elderly lady who tells the story of Idgie, a young woman in 1920s Alabama. Through Idgie’s inspiring life Evelyn learns to be more assertive and builds a lasting friendship of her own with Ninny
