Borges & Buenos Aires
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the publication of ‘Fervor de Buenos Aires’ (Borges' first book) Prof. Alicia Ardila will be taking a tour of the city immortalised by the great Argentine writer through his verses and stories while Julian Rowlands delights us with the most beautiful tangos on his bandoneon.
The performance (in Spanish) will be followed by a wine reception.

Alicia Ardila is a versatile and accomplished individual with a strong academic and professional background. She earned her degree in Philosophy from Universidad de Buenos Aires -UBA- in 1989 and has since pursued various career paths. Alicia is not only a skilled journalist but also a dedicated educator, serving as a Lecturer at the 'Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas' (in UBA) and holding the position of Associate Professor at the 'Fundación Centro Psicoanalítico Argentino'. Her expertise also extends to teaching Oratory, and she is a valued member of the 'Academia Privada de Oratoria Contemporánea' (Argentina). Since the year 2000, Alicia has been actively involved in delivering courses, workshops, and conferences on the works of Jorge Luis Borges, showcasing her passion and knowledge in literature and education.
Julian Rowlands is a multifaceted musician, composer, and arranger known for his performances on various musical instruments, including bandoneon, free reeds, keys, and strings. He has made notable appearances on TV and radio, including BBC Strictly, ITV's Surprise Surprise, and BBC Radio 4 Front Row. Julian's accomplishments include composing the score for the Olivier-nominated Midnight Tango and collaborating with Tango Siempre. Julian's solo performances and recordings have received acclaim, with his album "Language of the Heart" earning praise from artists like Sting. He has worked with esteemed ensembles such as The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
