Join us on Friday 12th September 2025 to learn how to make a bee hive for wild, free-living honey bees. This is a fantastic opportunity to build something that will help provide suitable habitat for honey bees, using reclaimed materials. If you want to undertake an eco project to do your bit for nature, this is it!
This workshop will be a practical session, with the option of making a hive or observing how to make the hive (so you can make one at a later date).
What's included:
- Tuition to make the hive
- Important information about suitable positioning and erection of the hive, how to attract a swarm, forage requirements and what to expect
- Light lunch and refreshments
Options:
(1) You can buy a ticket to observe the hives being made for £10 per person or
(2) You can buy a ticket to make a hive (which you can take home at the end of the day) for £90 which includes the cost of materials (up to 2 people can share this ticket)
If you are making a hive, you'll need to bring the following tools:
- A cross head (Philips) screwdriver and/or Pozidrive drill bits.
- Standard drill or driver (most people will have these at home)
Not a carpenter?
Don't worry...Whilst some practical skills will help, this is not too difficult, and the materials will have been cut to size in advance. Also help will be on hand throughout the day.
