The age of sail in the Georgian period was an exciting time of discovery and revolution. Our aim is to inspire greater understanding of the achievements of the maritime world of the 18th and 19th centuries. The 1805 Club takes its name from the iconic Battle of Trafalgar which gave Nelson his acclaimed place in history and confirmed the role of the Royal Navy in asserting sea power. Through our programme of commemorative initiatives, publications, research and education, we are building a global community open to enthusiasts of naval history from all backgrounds. We invite you to join us on our voyage, recognising the role of the world?s sailing navies of the Georgian period (1714-1837) and promoting their legacy into the modern seafaring age. Since 1990 the Club has conserved 65 graves and memorials in the UK and overseas, created three new memorials, arranged high profile commemorative events with the Royal Navy, furthered research through international conferences and its publications, notably the annual Trafalgar Chronicle and Nelson?s Band of Brothers: Lives and Memorials and launched an educational programme for schools. It has become an important member of the naval heritage family. The 1805 Club is also the official custodian of The Trafalgar Way from Falmouth to the Old Admiralty in London. Our heritage, research and education programmes rely on funding and donations by people who love Naval history, anywhere in the world. We invite you to support one of our campaigns or events, donate to one of our causes, or to set up your own fundraising activities to help us on our way!
