Middlesbrough Erimus ROtarywould like to support MY Middlesbrough, a charity set up by Libby Lavelle, a teacher at Ayresome School in Middlesbrough. The charity provides music lessons every Saturday at a local church, for children from the school who would otherwise be unable to afford to play a musical instrument. The school has very significant levels of deprivation which place it well within the lowest 5% nationally. Many of the families attending the school are not eligible for free school meals as they fall below the ‘benefits radar’, almost two thirds of pupils have English as a second language and over 40 languages are spoken at the school.
Despite this, the teachers are successful in entering children for national music exams, and the coming together of children to play music has great social and educational benefits.
We would like you to support this great cause. If you are able to make a contribution, you can do this here.
ALL funds collected through this campaign will be passed to the charity. If you are able to gift aid your donation, this will increase the value of your donation by 35% without you doing anything else.
