About

I am raising money to travel to Kenya with the Netball Development Trust (NDT) to support schools in developing their netball community. This is a fantastic opportunity where I will be working with schools and projects to help young people to become players, leaders, coaches and officials in the future.

NDT’s goals are varied, but the goal is to provide children with the opportunity to play! Involving teachers and local netball volunteers to create NDT leaders to sustain the programme’s longevity in-country and leave them with the necessary skills and resources to continue playing netball. This netball project is a tool to bring communities together to improve overall wellbeing of young people attending school addressing problems which effect truancy and running educational sessions which address these issues. Including education to teachers and students about menstruation, sexual and reproductive health.

I am aiming to raise £3,750 to make all of the above possible. All donations welcome big and small. I will be organising fundraising events with the support of my friends and family to help raise money- these will be happening in the next few months and will be posted in my updates.

For the entire MONTH of MAY I ran ever single day! This includes the festival weekend at bearded theory! What a legend I actually am, managing to run a whopping 188.08km in total. Also came to the sad realisation that I am rubbish at taking running selfies.....However, this was not for nothing, I may have be over shadowed but the election and now the Euro's but it has come around again for me to BANG my drum. I leave to Kenya in under 3 weeks and still have a long way to go for fundraising. Please share this and give what you can to support Netball Development Trust and their amazing work with developing communities in Kenya. Day 18 of running every day in May, Park run!

To help raise money and awareness of what I am doing and why, I have set myself a challenge of running every day in May (2024).

I will run at least 5km each day (however, for some reason 5km park runs seem show on Strava as just under but honest they are 5km!)

Netball Development Trust

A UK registered charity which delivers netball at grassroots level to children in some of the least developed regions of the world. We use netball as a tool to bring communities together, where we deliver 'sexual and reproductive health' awareness. NDT is the only charity in the world exclusively using netball to support and educate young people with their sexual and reproductive health and rights. We typically work at grass roots in less developed countries, allowing children the freedom to play and have fun. We work with schools and projects in the community to help young people to become players, leaders, coaches and officials of the future. We introduce the game of netball to boys and girls who lack access to sports facilities, opportunities, kit and equipment. The relationships they build with the coaches, then allows the delicate subjects sexual health to be discussed. Our programmes run throughout the year, led by our wonderful volunteers, predominantly in Ghana, Kenya and Uganda. We have partners working hard in Pakistan, though the UK team has less contact with the team there. Each year a NDT tour party visits the projects to upskill the volunteers, and celebrate the year?s success.
