About

The Melodians Steel Orchestra UK was formed in 1987 and has provided opportunities for young people from varied social and racial backgrounds to develop musical skills, techniques and a wide repertoire that includes classical, modern, calypso, pop and jazz compositions. They became a registered charity in 1994.In the UK, apart from many concerts, weddings, parties and other events they have performed at Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace Garden parties in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal Family.The orchestra is also well known internationally and over the years they have taken their distinctive sound to over 30 countries including: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Croatia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Russia and Zambia.The orchestra’s repertoire has been recognised with many awards and they perform music from Classical to Jazz. The have received a Performing Rights Society Enterprise Award, a Royal Anniversary Challenge Award and BT Innovation Award.
