The Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre (KAT Centre) is a non-profit registered charity organisation dedicated to improving the welfare of Nepal's animals. The organisation's goals are to humanely create a healthy, sustainable street dog population, eliminate animal cruelty, and put a stop to people and dogs dying of rabies in the Kathmandu Valley. The KAT Centre's main programs are Animal Birth Control (ABC); sterilizing dogs and giving them rabies vaccinations, Public Education; teaching compassion and rabies awareness, and Rescue and Treatment; for sick and injured street dogs and cats, many of whom are available for adoption.
