Tribute
On 7th August we lost our amazing dad John Slack. He caught pneumonia and passed away very quickly in the early hours of the morning. We are all devastated to lose him at only 68.
John was a quiet and kind man, with a razor sharp wit and a dark and wonderful sense of humour. He loved his family and his friends, both old and new.
John had a stroke many years ago at 52 and following this, he started to attend the Derbyshire Stroke Centre. He had so many wonderful times here, making new friends, going on trips away and doing all sorts of activities: crafts, music, first aid and even holding a snake on one occasion! The stroke group meant so much to John and will continue to do so to others that attend if. If you would like to make any donations to them in memory of John, they are a brilliant cause.
Favourite memory
One of my favourite memories of my dad was of taking him into Sheffield on the bus, around a year after he had his first stroke. We were both up for an adventure and totally clueless about what would be OK for him in his new condition. We had a wonderful time going to the millennium gallery. He started to get tired and I started to panic that I wouldn't be able to get him all the way home again! But dad was both tough and stubborn and so on we went, making it home in one piece thankfully!
