About

We're volunteers from across East Herts and West Essex. We support local asylum seekers - mainly families with children - with basic supplies such shoes and underwear. 

We also arrange activities, English lessons and provide moral and emotional support during this difficult time. 

We currently support around 1,000 men, women, children and newborns, each of whom have endured painful experiences and are escaping horrific situations - so your donations really make a difference.

In just the last few months, we have started supporting 250 new guests in Essex hotels, and 350 new guests in Hertfordshire hotels, plus a number of families and individuals in dispersal accommodation. Supporting everyone is a huge task, and we desperately need your help.

You'll have seen the appalling situation with the Manston Immigration Centre in the news. Unsurprisingly, this has caused significant movement of people around the system. We have a new URGENT need for more funds to help recently arrived people in our area. We urgently need your help to buy basic items - underwear, shoes - for new arrivals. Care4Calais

Care4Calais is a volunteer-run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, and Northern France. We believe in a fair and tolerant British society and advocate for a welcoming and inclusive attitude towards refugees. Operating year round from Calais, our focus is to provide warm clothing, bedding, food and medical assistance to people in desperate need. We also provide social support and interaction, including language lessons and sports and music workshops. We are on the ground with the refugees every single day and are respectful of their common humanity and responsive to their needs.
