About

We offer therapeutic and wellbeing support to children and families in South Yorkshire and are trying to meet an increasing demand to support local mental health and emotional wellbeing need. We offer interventions ranging from specialist trauma therapy to emotional wellbeing and social inclusion activities and want to ensure that these services are as widely accessible as possible. Bee Community Minded is our not-for-profit project.

Unfortunately, the majority of families approaching us for support are not able to self-fund therapies. As the cost of living crisis deepens, and support need increases - we want to do more to help. We have a team of trained, experienced practitioners in our service and we do not want to lose access to provision of these vital skills locally as access to funding becomes less available. We are trying to increase options of how we can offer more, and most importantly we want children and families to access the right support, at the time that they need it and not experience unnecessary delays.

Our Plan:

We are working hard to complete grant applications and try and generate grant funded packages of support that local families can benefit from. Our Directors and team members are voluntary in their service development and funding efforts and commit their spare time to this cause. We would all much rather be using the time to offer essential therapy and interventions than completing funding applications. It is also difficult to offer or plan for anything helpful when we have to wait significant amounts of time to know if funding is successful. In the meantime – families are left waiting for support and we are filling in funding paperwork!

We want to try something different and need the support of anyone who feels that they would like to help develop our service. Scroll down to our 'updates' section to see our fundraising aims and how you can help!

Fundraising Aims:

Our immediate fundraising aims will focus on helping us to offer therapeutic support to the families who need this now. We want to accept more referrals from the families and professionals who are getting in touch, as well as continuing packages of support for children who need more help. All of our charitably raised funds are directed towards what is needed to meet the below aims:

* Offer direct therapies and wellbeing interventions for individuals and groups - our team specialise in supporting young people and their families where there has been developmental traumas and/or complex needs are presenting. We offer individual and family based work for both children and adults.

*Parental/Carer Interventions: Our NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) group aims to offer specific support to families where there are struggles managing aggressive, violent, or self-destructive behaviour by increasing parental presence and confidence. Every time we get funding to offer this group we receive significantly higher demand than available funding can meet. Feedback from families lets us know that we must keep trying to make this support available and accessible on an ongoing basis.

• Offer specific services to children and their families/carers in areas we know are low in available support such as children struggling to access school, with neurodivergence, disabilities and/or sensory needs.

• Offer consultation to parents and carers to understand and support their children’s needs.

• Develop useful tools and self-help resources to help families who cannot access direct interventions.

• Understand what is available locally and work with other services, projects and teams so that we can do more together.

• Offer training and professional development to local teams and services to share skills and knowledge.

How you can help:

We are hoping to generate a core service budget from microdonations which will be used towards delivering our service goals. Microdonations basically involve a lot of people offering a little that they can manage – we hope this approach will go a long way towards helping us to help you. Regular commitment to funding also helps us to plan and set services out longer term which is what children and families need when they are struggling. Alongside this we will continue working hard to generate bigger grants and we have lots of ideas for fun fundraising - but we hope that microdonations will help the core service to operate while we keep working on this.

We would be grateful for:

• Ongoing donations from individuals and businesses - Any contribution is able to be put to good use!

It’s really simple to set up an ongoing donation – please see ‘regular donation’ option above.

• One-off donations – these can be used for specific projects of pieces of work. For example, we have had donations to fund workshops for carers, groups for children, short therapy packages for children and sensory equipment for our rooms.

• Making donations of services or goods which we can use for fundraising purposes i.e. raffles and fundraising events.

We particularly need donations of soft toys for an ongoing project.

• Individuals or organisations/teams who would like to fundraise or take donations on our behalf. - Collection boxes, sky dives! Or just sharing our details can help!

• Providing professional time, mentorship, advice or guidance to support us to achieve our aims.

• Feedback and ideas – let us know what you think will work and where we are getting it right/wrong.

Supporting

Eden House Community Links CIC

Eden House Community Links C.I.C was developed in 2021 in response to a significant unmet need, with a shared desire to provide low-cost or no-cost therapeutic services to those in need of support. Between 2021-2023, we were fortunate enough to receive funding from The National Lottery, Persimmon Homes, South Yorkshire Police and the Crime Commissioner, Screwfix, and other generous projects and individuals. We remain committed to expanding our not-for-profit services. In 2025/26, we will build on the success of our service, diversify our team of Directors and volunteers, launch our 'Bee Community Minded' (BCM) project/s. BCM will continue working with local partners to address the unmet needs in our community, with the vision to deliver high-quality and accessible therapeutic and wellbeing services and resources.
