I am aiming to raise much needed funds to help the work of ADAPT (All dependant and pre term babies and children). My dad Simon, who has walked many miles for Adapt and I are taking part in the South West Coast 50 ultra challenge and walking 30 miles in total on 2nd August! The location of the walk is significant as I nearly made my entrance into this world at 24 weeks in Minehead while my parents were on holiday!
However, I was born at Leicester Royal Infirmary 2 weeks later at 26 weeks and weighed just 1lb 11ozs (780 grams), less than a bag of sugar! However despite my very early arrival I have just celebrated my 30th birthday. I am always extremely indebted to the hospital for all the medical care I received and for the love, care and prayers I received from my family and the many people who knew I had been born so prematurely.
Having a premature baby can happen to anyone and because everything happens so quickly and usually unexpectedly, it can leave parents and families feeling very vulnerable and apprehensive about the future. ADAPT was set up by parents who have all had similar experiences to help and support families through these difficult times.
The charity receives no financial help from the government or the NHS and is totally self funded and really does need all the help they can get to be able to continue supporting families.
Thank you for taking an interest and helping me to raise these funds for ADAPT which is so close to my heart and my family.
