About

From the bright eyed, fresh faces that matriculated in 1992, we remember three of our number that are no longer with us.

The year group and its friends are fundraising to support the new Library & Auditorium project at Selwyn and to commemorate these wonderful people on the walls of the new building - Felicity Webster (Engineering),  Simon Cubells (Modern Languages) and Annabel Hartley (Theology). The minimum we need to raise for this is £1,500 which would allow us to get a commemorative brick for each person. If we exceed this amount we will expand our plans.

This page allows you to make a donation, with Gift Aid if you are a UK tax payer.

If you would like to contribute to other year group appeals, please contact the college via development@sel.cam.ac.uk

We are fundraising with the approval of Simon, Felicity and Annabel's families.

Selwyn College Library & Auditorium - Selwyn College

The biggest decision taken by Selwyn’s governing body in recent years was to give the go-ahead for a new library and auditorium.  It’s a project that is estimated to cost around £12.6m, and it will transform the north side of the college – on the corner of Grange Road and West Road – by completing Ann’s Court.  It’s a thrilling prospect, but one that has only been taken after a lot of thought about how we see the future of the college.

A new library and auditorium were part of the masterplan for Selwyn drawn up twenty years ago.  The first stages were the two acclaimed existing buildings of Ann’s Court that have provided more accommodation and college office, and we have a long-term goal that will see the expansion of the college’s rooms still further by building along Grange Road next to B staircase.

In place of the current library, which is crowded and out-of-date, we want to offer a study centre fit for the 21st century.  Books are still in high demand, but so is digital material for learning – and we can bring those two things together in an environment that enable students to work individually and collaboratively.  The auditorium will provide space for lectures, performance and seminars: the kind of activities that enhance the life of a college.
