It’s been a brutal year for trans people.
Trans rights are under attack. Access to public life is being stripped back. Decisions are being made about trans people’s lives by people who will never have to live with the consequences.
We’ve protested. We’ve marched. We’ve spoken out. And we’ll keep doing all of those things.
But solidarity has to be material too.
Waltham Forest has a proud history of standing together when our communities come under attack. At this crucial moment, we’re asking our borough to stand with its trans+ residents.
This year, we’re proud to announce the Walthamstow Trans Pride Community Solidarity Fund: a pot of money raised by all of us and redistributed directly to trans people in our borough.
The principle is simple: we pool what we have and we put it directly into the hands of trans people. We look after each other.
If you’ve watched what’s happening and wondered what you can actually do, this is something you can do that will make a direct, material difference.
Give what you can. Raise what you can. Ask your friends, your workplace, your neighbours to do the same. Help us turn the solidarity we know exists in Waltham Forest into real, material support for our trans+ neighbours when they need it.
Talking about solidarity is nice. Materially doing it is better.
