We are raising money to enable us to open and run a hub for neurodivergent children, families and individuals who are looking for a safe space to socialise. We are calling this The Sunshine Hub, we are hoping it will act as a ray of sunshine in people’s lives, brightening their day and leaving them feeling warm and safe.
The building needs a few adaptations to make the space as inclusive as possible- these include a new toilet that will be more accessible and a stair lift for those with reduced mobility. We also regularly update our equipment to ensure we are offering the best service possible.
Neuronest South West CIC already run a successful home education group for neurodivergent children. The Sunshine Hub will enable us to run more groups, reach more people and offer a better service to the families and individuals we support.
Some of our main goals are to run a craft club for neurodivergent teens to socialise, small bespoke cookery classes, home education groups and offer private hire of our space to businesses and individuals who would like to use our facilities.
Neuronest South West CIC was set up as there are very few support services in South Devon that cater specifically for neurodivergent home educated children. A hugely marginalised group that is growing daily as the education system is failing those who’s needs aren’t ’severe enough’ for a special needs school but their needs are ‘too severe’ for a mainstream setting. We enable these children to access educational activities, socialise and build relationships with other children who have similar difficulties to themselves.
