This June, I’m taking part in the Human Rights Night Walk in support of the Museum of Homelessness - a 12.4mile overnight journey through the streets of London, passed sites of importance to human rights and social movement activism in the capital. Starting at Railton Road in Brixton, a historic place of resistance and community-building for London's Caribbean community, we will walk through the night and, all going to plan, arrive in Finsbury Park for breakfast at the museum at sunrise!
For anyone who hasn't heard me wax on about the Museum already - they're an award-winning, community-led organisation that preserves and shares the untold and ignored stories of homelessness. Through exhibitions, creative projects, investigations and education, the Museum challenges stigma, highlights systemic injustices and amplifies the lived realities of homelessness. All this while providing direct support to the community in their beautiful building and garden in Finsbury Park.
I’m proud to be a part of the museum crew through my work on the Dying Homeless Project, which documents and honours the lives of people who have died while homeless in the UK. This important and one-of-a-kind project ensures that people who've passed away are not forgotten, and that their experiences, as well as the causes and consequences of their homelessness, are recognised, investigated and made unignorable.
By sponsoring me, you’ll be supporting the Museum of Homelessness and helping continue their vital work in our borough, city and across the UK. Importantly your support will also help the Museum to remain independent from government funding, which is vitally important to the crew and community. Thank you so much for any support you can offer — even sharing this page will make a big difference.
Much love Gill / Robin x
