After a year off fundraising both Esme and Olivia have decided that 2025 is their year for fundraising! They want to raise money for the Royal United Hospital cancer unit in Bath. This is the hospital that along with Bristol children’s hospital saved Esme’s life. The staff there are amazing and have and continue to support not only Esme and us, but also Olivia.
The charity that they have chosen is the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group. https://bcusg.org. The Bath Cancer Unit Support Group is a small local charity, run entirely by volunteers, which supports the work of cancer facilities at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. They do this by raising money to purchase equipment facilities and services that the NHS are unable to fund. The aim is to improve outcomes and the well-being of local cancer patients. One of the projects that they are working towards is a specific room in the hospital for children to have chemotherapy. The cost of this is £600,000. This would be the most incredible space for children to have chemotherapy which is often a gruelling process for everyone involved although the hospital staff do try their best to make this experience as stress free as possible. Any money raised that could support this amazing charity to help families like ours would be amazing!
So Olivia’s fundraising challenge this year is to cycle the distance that Esme has to do regularly from Frome to the RUH, approximately 16miles. She will be doing this in June with three of her wonderful friends; Tabby, Eva and Leah and their parents. Esme will be doing a sponsored scoot around her local park with her friends to the equivalent distance that Olivia is doing. Esme and her friends will be adding up the distance that they all do to get to 16miles.
We would appreciate any support whether that is cheering them on or donating or anything else in between that you can give all these wonderful childre
