The empty chair represents someone who may be lonely, isolated or forgotten

We are taking the empty chair on a journey across locations in Newcastle, Starting conversations, and raising awareness for loneliness among older people.

With ongoing funding cuts and increasing demand for our services, Search Newcastle is supporting more older people with greater needs and vulnerabilities than ever, and often with fewer resources. The need for connection, friendship, and practical support continues to grow, making our work more important than ever.

This year, we have no dedicated funding for Christmas dinner, an event that means so much to older people we support.

Our goal is to raise £1000 to help Search Newcastle provide a Christmas dinner for older people, bringing warmth, friendship, and connection at a time when loneliness can be felt the most.

You can be part of the journey! When you donate, leave message of kindness, hope or encouragement. We will add your words to a tag on the chair, carrying your message throughout Newcastle.

Every donation makes a difference, Whether you give a little or choose to gift a dinner to someone else, your kindness will help us bring people together. No amount is too small.

Because nobody should feel forgotten, especially at Christmas, and neither should our efforts to prevent it

Search is a charity that provides services for older people and their carers in the west of Newcastle and we aim to promote the health, wealth and happiness of over 50's living in Newcastle. We do this by offering a range of community activities, groups, one to one support, volunteering opportunities, advice and help with claiming benefits and accessing services. Most of our services are for people aged fifty and over except for the advice and information work which is for people over pension age and for their carers.
