Creating Warmth, Connection & Care at the Mohanji Centre of Benevolence, Scotland
As we approach three years at the Mohanji Centre of Benevolence in Huntly, we are at a beautiful point of growth — and with it comes a simple but important need.
Over the past years, this space has welcomed many people seeking peace, connection, and a sense of belonging. Now, we would like to make it even more supportive, warm, and accessible for everyone who visits.
***A Reception & Activity Space for All***
In addition to the temple space, we plan to create a Reception & Activity Space — a simple, welcoming indoor area where people can rest quietly, connect with others, enjoy a warm drink, or take part in small activities.
This will be a glass-fronted, insulated, and heated space, with comfortable seating for around 20–30 people.
A place where, especially in the colder months, anyone can step in from the outside and feel at ease straight away.
***Supporting Weekly Feeding***
Alongside this, we are preparing to begin weekly feeding initiatives.
To make this possible, we need to upgrade our existing barn kitchen and dining area so that volunteers can safely and comfortably prepare and serve food.
This space is at the heart of service — where volunteers come together in joy and togetherness to cook and offer meals to others.
Currently, the facilities are basic. With your support, we aim to install proper kitchen-height work areas, improve safety and functionality, and create a comfortable dining setup for up to 30 guests.
These improvements will allow us to serve more people with care, dignity, and ease.
***What Your Support Will Help Create***
With a fundraising goal of £15,000, we will be able to develop:
