The boys and staff in Poole House have launched another fundraising scheme to raise money for their chosen charity - Zambezi Sunrise Trust. Our Charity monitors are asking all Pooleites and staff to do something linked to 100, and pledge to raise £100. If every boy in the house manages to raise £100 each we will collectively raise over £10,000. The boys can raise money through creative ideas such as cycling 100km, rowing 10km every day for 10 days, walking the dog 5km for 20 days, washing cars or doing press-ups; the beauty of this challenge is they chose.
The CEO of the trust Mr John Gillette, is an ex-Pooleite and he came into Poole House to give a speech on Friday 14th October to launch the 100 Club Campaign and tell the boys about the aims of the charity.
The Zambezi Sunrise Trust was born out of the experience of two of the trustees who worked as volunteer teachers in southern Zambia in early 2016 and returned in the first quarters of 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. It is dedicated to the advancement of education and the relief of poverty, sickness and distress in Zambia.
The trust is dedicated to providing ongoing support to its projects through the provision of buildings, books, student needs, teaching materials, uniforms, sports and musical equipment, hygiene products and nutritional support. The primary focus is on children but their support extends to women’s groups so that they are better able to support themselves and their children. Although traction is growing to support this worthwhile charity they still would greatly appreciate our support.
Please see their current projects on the following website: https://www.zambezisunrisetrust.co.uk/projects/
The money we raise will go towards a new Science teaching class and ablution block.
We thank you for your support and look forward to the challenge of raising funds over the next five weeks.
