Story

On Saturday 13th June, Paul Jackson will be running The South Downs Way 50k to raise vital funds for The Gorsefield Charitable Foundation.

I am taking on this challenge to help children from Inner City Tower Hamlets access experiences they would otherwise miss out on.

Gorsefield, based in Essex, is an outdoor learning centre where many children have their first opportunity to explore nature, build confidence and develop independence.

Many families face financial barriers and cannot afford residential or even day visits. Without support, these children miss out on experiences that can have a lasting impact on their wellbeing and future.

By supporting my run, you will help fund visits, transport, meals and activities.

Every mile I run is for these children.

Supporting

The Gorsefield Charitable Foundation

The Gorsefield Charitable Foundation is dedicated to supporting Gorsefield Rural Studies and Outdoor Activity Centre, an outdoor education hub set in the Essex countryside. Registered as a charity (No. 1213473), the Foundation works to advance education and promote health and wellbeing by helping children and young people access high-quality outdoor learning experiences that might otherwise be out of reach. The Foundation ensures that schools and community groups, especially those from Tower Hamlets and other areas with limited access to green space, can benefit from residential visits, day trips, nature-based activities, and hands-on challenges that build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and communication skills. By reducing financial and practical barriers to access, the Foundation helps more children enjoy the freedom of learning beyond the classroom, fostering personal growth, wellbeing, and a lasting connection with the natural world. Gorsefield itself offers a rich programme of outdoor experiences in woodland, fields, and open space, encompassing environmental learning, adventure activities, and opportunities to explore nature in a safe, inspiring environment.
