Fundraiser - Matilda's Miles

Story

Matilda is running a mile a day for the month of May to raise money for Kids to Kids - an amazing charity set up specifically to support children in remote villages in Darfur, Sudan.

Rather than handouts, the charity works with local partners to provide grassroot projects identified and run by the villagers themselves. Some of the projects include: loaning goats - the milk is rich in vitamins and protein, excess milk can be sold and after two years each family passes young goats to another family; installing handpumps; healthcare (training midwives and first aiders); building schools; giving blankets and mosquito nets; planting trees.

Kids for Kids

We adopt remote villages in Darfur, Sudan, where children are living in intolerable poverty and introduce a package of sustainable projects to totally transform their lives. Our holistic programme of projects is tailored to each village, with input from villagers themselves. We empower local people, training them to run the projects for themselves and their community, so they can raise their families out of poverty long-term, and give their children hope of a better future.
